PWLL AFC CLUB DIARY 2008/2009
Tues 26/08/08 Porth Twywn Suburbs deservedly beat the PWLL Reserve team 2-0 at Pwll Park tonight.
Sat 23/08/08 PWLL lost to Trostre 2-0 in the dying minutes of a match in which Pwll looked very rusty & lost the momentum of the star cup.
Thurs 21/08/08 disappointing turn out for training tonight.
Mon 11/08/08 & Thurs 14/08/08 Back to training as usual- Rob expects some more players at training sessions in readiness for the league season.
Wed 13/08/08 Pwll Reserves freindly match v suburbs called off due to weather.
Sat 09/08/08 Pwll did not make it through the group stages after Felinfoel beat Steel 3-2 today. Star Cup Group 4 qualifyers are Camford & Felinfoel
Thurs 07/08/08 Star Cup Group 4 PWLL 2 Llanelli Steel 2 . Pwll only managed a home draw with the much older & experienced Steel team.An OG & a goal by Steve Phillips put Pwll in front twice however Steel equalised with a penalty & a headed goal from a corner kick.
Wed 06/08/08 Reserve friendly tonight ended in a draw- CaerBryn 2 PWLL Res 2 Blakey & Mathew Davies (Spud) scored for Pwll.
Mon 04/08/08 Star Cup Group 4 PWLL 0 Camford 1 . PWLL were unlucky to lose their 1st home game in this group tonight & will need to win their final group game v Llanelli Steel to make sure to QUALIFY from this group.
Sat 02/08/08 Star Cup Group 4 Pen-y-fan 1 PWLL 1. Steve Philips got red carded in the 1st 15 mins which made it difficult for 10 man Pwll side however Pwll fought hard & went in front with an OG. Penyfan equalised with a freekick late on.
Thurs 31/07/08 Friendly Tafern -y-Felyn 1 PWLL Res 3 This was a game for all of those who did not play or have a full game in yesterdays Star Cup. Gavin Evans & dai James scored 1 goal apiece & Matthew Davies also scored a beautiful chipped goal over the keeper after great movement to get into the box.
Wed 30/07/08 Star Cup Group 4 Felinfoel 1 PWLL 4 Steve Phillips showed all his experience by scoring the equaliser in 1st half & going on to score another two by the end of the game. Max Creed scored the other in a very comfortable game.
Fri 25/07/06 A scratch Pwll side turned up for a pre-season hastily arranged away friendly game only to go down by 5 goals to 1 in the 1st half. The only goal scored by Kevin Evans controlling the ball on the edge along the penalty area from a corner kick & hitting a screamer passed the Llanstephan keeper into the back of the net. Things improved in the 2nd half where no goals were conceded.
Thurs 17/07/08 Short & Sweet hard running session at Sandy Water park finishing off with football on the Park. A good turn out tonight & a players volunteered to play in a hastily arranged friendly v Llanstephan tommorrow night.Clive Thomas was officially named as 1st Team Assistant Manager by 1st team Manager Rob Lewis.
Mon 21/07/08 Training taken by Rob, I lied when I reported more ball as this was another good fitness running session towards the Spiral Hill on the coast between Pwll & Burry Port. A small ball game was had at Pwll later .
Sat 19/07/08 Shanter invited a number of Pwll players to his Stag Party taking a coach trip to Newbury for the races & ended with a night out in Cardiff. Reports are that Shanter did not last the whole night however a good time was had by all.
Thurs 17/07/08 End of the promised 4 session pre-season hard keep fit sessions with Lee. A 5 time run up & down a very steep hill & steps in Bynea followed by a game of football at Pwll run by Clive & Rob. Sessions from now on pre Star Cup will consist of more ball however fitness is still keen.
Mon 14/07/08 Training on the dunes tonight - sand everywhere -sessions are getting harder.
Thurs 10/07/08 PWLL AFC is proud to announce the club won the :
The Carmarthenshire League Fair Play Award 2008 & now recieve a £500 voucher to spend on sports equipment at Sportscene.Rob lewis took training tonight,a hard running session keeping up the pre-season work out finished off with a short game of football.
Mon 30/06/08 Training tonight with Lee Jenkins was all fitness without ball, a good hard workout starting with a run from Pwll to Sandy water park & the use of the steps & hills for fitness work.
Thurs 03/07/08 Rob Lewis & Jason Saunders attended Star cup meeting - Fixtures now on the net. Lee Jenkins took the training session after Rob spoke to the players stating he believes Pwll AFC under achieved last season & with a batch of new players coming in pushing the already established players he thinks Pwll can challenge for honours this season. 90% of training was with ball tonight ,a little harder than last & easier than next & coming sessions.
Mon 30/06/08 Rob Lewis held his 1st training session with Pwll AFC helped out by Lee Jenkins. A disappointing turn out however some players are on holiday at this time.About 5 new players also joined in the rigorous session.Rob will turn up the training expecting more players in the next sessions.
Tonight the Committee voted in Lingley Scaife (Scyffee) as Reserve Team Assistant Manager to help out player manager Mark Aitken in his final playing season.

Sat 7/06/08 Pwll AFC held their Annual football dinner & award ceromony at the Ashburnham Hotel Pembrey.A good time was had by all. Check the side of this page for who was awarded what for this season 2007/08.
Sat 3/05/08 PWLL Reserves lost the penultimate game of the season 2-4 away to Johnstown.the game was hardly worth watching as there was nothing on the game, apart from a 3 minute spell when Mark Aitken came to life & made a goal for Gwyn Pugh & scored a scorching 30 yarder.Hopefully the arranged club night out in Carmarthen was more successful.
Sat 26/04/08 PWLL Reserves secured a place in Reserve Div 1 today by beating Trostre 3-0 Gavin Evans,Mark Aitken(pen) & Rob Harries scored. PWLL 1st team lost 3-1 away to Trostre with Steve Phillips scoring Pwll's only goal in 1st half.
Wed 23/04/08 Gavin Evans scored a 2nd half equaliser to draw 1-1 with Evans&Williams destined for 2nd place to make sure Premier Division Football stays at Pwll Park next season
Thurs 17/04/08 Pwll Reserves beat Trallwm away 2-5 with Gwyn Pugh scoring his 2nd goal in 2 games & 2 each from Tom Watkeys & Gavin Evans.
Sat 12/04/08 Both teams secured 3 needy points today with 1st team beating Camford away with a Blakey goal & the reserves with the comeback of the season after being 2-0 down to Johnstown mid 2nd half scored 3 goals in last 20 mins through Mark Aitken,Paddy & Gwyn Pugh with the winner. These points took both teams out of the relegation zone.
Sat 29/03/08 John Taylor resigned as 1st team manager before todays game.Clive Thomas took charge & secured a point against a very good Trostre side at Pwll Park. The pitch cut up in bad weather however Anthony Bonnell scored in a 1-1 draw.
Sat 22/03/08 Adrian Gray & Rob Thomas scored for Pwll Reserves in a good 3 pointer beating Pontlliw 2-0 at Pwll Park.
Sat 15/03/08 PWLL Reserves won a terificpoint to leaders Seaside in a 0-0 draw on a pitch none better than a duckpond.
Sat 08/03/08 Johnstown 4 PWLL 1 Christian Bonnell scored in 1st minute however playing against a strong Wind helped Johnstown to win 4-1.
Sat 01/03/08 PWLL 2 Dafen 3 . 2 Blakey goals to put Pwll in the lead twice was not enough as Dafen came back with 3 goals to take all 3 points.
Sat 23/02/08 Steve Phillips scored 20 seconds from the end of a volatile match away to Bwlch. PWLL win 1-0. PWLL Reserves drew 2-2 at home to Trostre. Mark Aitken & Mal Rees scored.
Sat 16/02/08 Both PWLL sides did well today,1sts getting a well earned draw at league leaders Burry Port getting in front on 3 occasions only to draw 3-3 at the last kick.Reserves got thier 2nd win on the trot 2-1 at home to Calsonic.
Sat 9/02/08. Pwll reserves foought back a 2-0 deficit to win 6-3 at home to West End.Blaky scored a hat-trick,Mal rees scored a cracker & Mark Aitken scored 2 albiet it the last goal may have come off a defender.
Sat 12/01/08 Pwll lost at home to Gorsienon 2-3 after taking the lead twice. Scorers were Gav Evans & Andrew (Shanter) Williams.
Sat 5/1/08 Senior Cup. Pwll 5 Calsonic 0
Pwll looked the better side with goals from, Anthony Bonnell (2) Gavin Evans (2) and Christian Bonnell (1).
There were a lot of chances that should have hit the back of the net but a all good performance.PWLL Reserves no game.
Sat 22/12/07. An excellent day out for all starting with the Tony Tiger memorial 14-a-side friendly game resulting in a 5-5 draw. Back to the Talbot,a few drinks, & a pool competition.
Thurs 20/12/07. Disappointing turn out training tonight,I understand people are busy during this Xmas period.Thanks to those players that turned up,we even had to borrow a ball however had a good 5-a-side game in freezing cold on red gra. I hope theres a good turn up for the Tiger memorial on Saturday.
Sat 15/12/07 Pwll 2 Hendy 0 Steve Phillips & Gavin Evans scored to take all 3 points.
Sat 24/11/07. Pwll took a shocking defeat at Dafen by 1-4 with Blakey scoring the only goal. The Reserves did a lot better securing their 1st win of the season beating Trallwm 3-1 with Ashley Davies scoring 2 either side of Mark Aitkens goal.

Sat 10/11/07. Both Pwll teams drew their games today.Pwll 1st team hard to fight back to 3-3 with Johnstown after going down 3-1 early 2nd half.Gavin Evans scored 2 & Kevin Evans scored direct from a freekick.Pwll Reserves deservedly got their 1st point of the season drawing 2-2 away to Calsonic. Mark James scored a penalty & Matthew Davies scored on his debut.
Thurs 8/11/07. A very good turn out at Coedcae redgra tonight despite some regulars on different shifts not being there. Nice also to see some reserve team players who do not normally turn out & need the training for fitness & hopefully will benefit to help the club who are not doing well on the field currently.
Sat 3/11/07. Pwll 1st team drew 2-2 away to relegation battlers Trallwm.Steve Philips scored with Lee Burns's penalty equaliser.The Reserves lost 1-4 to Garden Village with Tom Watkeys scoring on his return from injury. Don't miss the Fireworks Display at the Talbot Inn tonight
Thurs 1/11/07.Good response again tonight out door on the red gra,{Coedcae Sports Centre} Big game on sat, meet at 12.45.all players.there will be a few players missing on sat.
Mon 29/10/07.Good response tonight 1st indoor session,still a few players missing.
Sat 27/10/07. Pwll lost their game with promotion rivals of last season by 4-3. Scorers were Blakey,Kev Evans & Lee Burns. the Reserves lost their Darch Cup game to Dafen by 4 goals.
Mon 22 & Thurs25.Training went ahead tonight still need more of the boys there, on thursday we trained under flood lights very good session.
Sat 20/10/07. Pwll eventually thrashed 3rd Div Kruf side 10-3 in the Senior Cup Rnd1 after going 1-2 down HT.Christian Bonnell scored 4,Steve Phillips & Kev Evans 2 each & Blakey 1.The 10th goal seemed to be a phantom goal as it appeared on refs score sheet. We will put that one down to a og. Reserves went down 2-0 to away to Pontlliw
Thurs 18/10/07.A much better response tonight however there are a few players who have not turned up at all for training this week.
Mon 15/10/07. Training numbers a bit better tonight,working on fitness,ball work. Manager John Taylor took the session.
Sat 13/10/07. Repeat 1st 20 mins saw Pwll 3-0 down to Evans&Williams only to fight back to 3-2 only to lose 4-2 finally.Lee Burns & Anthony Bonnell scored 1st half goals.
Pwll Reserves Result v Pengelli Res: lost 1-3. Adrian (Paddy) Gray was the scorer.
Mon 8th & Thurs 11th. Rob Thomas has quit as manager,John Taylor has assumed the role with the backing of the committee & players.Training took place but it seems only the same 12-13 players turn up.Results are showing us we need to be fitter to grind out results in the Premier
Sat 06/10/07. John Taylor officialy named as 1st team assistant coach to take immediate charge of team matters. Clive Thomas is in charge of todays game.
Pengelli beat Pwll 3-2 at Grovesend in the West Wales Cup. Steve Phillips scored both goals whilst the Reserve side can't break their losing streak going down 2-3 to Bwlch. Gwyn Pugh & Gav Lemon scored.
Thurs 04/10/07.Well done lads,numbers are increasing.Good session again tonight til it got too dark.Good news as Jason Saunders also took on some ballwork recovering from a bad calf injury.He may be able to do some light training next week after physiotherapy sessions.
Mon 01/10/07 Training numbers a little better today however there were players who need the practice & fitness still not turning up. A new experienced coach who's been watching Pwll lately & who will be helping Rob & Clive on training & match days took session today. He will be officially named at a later date.
Sat 29/09/07.New kits for both teams arrived today,1st team beat Trallwm 5-1 in Claret & Blue. Blaky & Steve Phillips scored 2 each with Lee Burns adding another. The Reserves failed to score again losing 0-2 to West End in the new Azzura Blue & Navy kit. Pity about the socks on both kits didn't arrive in time from
Picton Sports, 1st teamers wore the old socks & reserves wore Black & pale blue hooped rugby stockings.No wonder they couldn't concentrate to win todays game.
Mon & T hurs 24&27/09/07, 11 Players turned up for training each night, a poor turnout despite some players away. Lets make an effort lads we need to train together & keep fit to make any headway in the premier.
Sat 15/09/07.Both Pwll sides played Seaside today with no luck in the results. The First team lost 3-1 away with Lee Burns scoring a consolation goal in last few minutes. Reserves were at Home & went down 0-3.
Thurs 13/09/07. Football practice mainly ball skills,possession & shooting went ahead tonight.
Tues 11/09/07. Pwll 2 Camford 2. Lee Burns scored both goals inc a last minute looping header to level the scores straight from GK Rob's kickout.
Fri 7/09/07.Training session went ahead 12 players turned up lets see if we get a more next time! 1st team home to Camford tuesday 11th, 5pm meet 6pm kick off.
Wed 05/09/07. Pwll Res 2 Camford 3. Anthony Bonnell scored a 2nd half penalty with Frenchy coming back from injury scoring also. Mike Shea was sent off for deliberate handball on the goalline to award Camford with the deciding penalty & 3rd goal.
Tues 04/09/07:Gorsienon 3 Pwll 4. Steve P,Blakey2 & Lee scored in Pwlls 1st Premier win. Injuries to both Gav's. Evans may have broken his nose in a clash & Lemon came off with a strain but should be OK by next match.
Sat 1/09/07. Pwll 3 Burry Port 5. Lee,Blakey & Max Scored whilst Reserves lost out to Garden Village 4-1 with Ashley Davies scoring.
Tues & Thurs 28&30/08/07:Training sessions went ahead prior to 1st games of the new season

Thurs 23/08/07: Friendly result; Pwll 3 Bonymaen 5. A good work out for a mixed team. Max scored with a header & Kev scored 2 very good goals.
Wed 22/08/07:Reserve game was called off tonight.Some Training went ahead instead.
Sat 18/08/07:Star cup semi finals Pwll-3-Seaside-4, Very good performance from all the players, scorers Blakey,Kenna, and an own goal from lee burns corner, well done lads for reaching this far in the star cup look forward to the prem.
Lottery result: 2 -26 unlucky No winners £50 next week.
Fri 17/08/07:Pwll 2nds 2 Llangenech 2 a good run out for some of the boys who havn't had a game or full game prior to tonight. Scorers were Ashley Davies & Max Creed.
Thurs 16/08/07. Good training session tonight,warm up taken by Shanter & Clive Thomas run footballing & skills section in readyness for tomorrows reserve game & Star cup Semi-final. New signing Damien Kemeny(GK) trained with squad for 1st time today.
Tues 14/08/07. Calsonic 2 Pwll 4. Pwll Make the Semi finals of the Star Cup. Blakey,Tom Watkeys with his 1st goal of the season, Steve Phillips & Lee Burns with a penalty were the scorers. Training Thurs 5.45.
Sat 11/08/07. Bwlch 6 Pwll 2. Pwll played with a makeshift side as already through to 'Q' finals. 2 great 1st half goals by Steve Phillips & Mark Aitken wasn't enough to stop Bwlch topping group 4. Training Mon 5.45pm.
TOTE Result: 19-46 TWO winners

Wed 08/08/07. Pwll had thier toughest game yet v Ponthenri tonight however come off with a formidable 4-1 win. Kevin Evans scored a cracker in 1st half doubled up by Blakey's scorching volley.Goals from Blaky with his 2nd & Steve Phillips long range goal made for a comfortable win after 2 opponents got red cards in 2nd half.
Mon 06/08/07.Two goals each for Darren Blake & Liam Kenna keeps Pwll on a winning streak in Star cup group 4 in a very good performance at home to Llanelli'A' watched by a very good crowd attendance.
Sat 04/07/07. TOTE result: 25-34 no winners this week. Next weeks prize money is £175.00
Fri 03/08/07. Lee Burns scored a 16th min penalty & Liam Kenna finished off Banc in 89 mins in our 0-2 away Star cup game.
Wed 01/08/07& Mon 30/07/07. Another good turn out for Training these nights.
1st team manager Rob focused on basic tactics & ball practice prior to our 1st game on Friday evening. A squad of 14 has been selected.
Sat 28/07/07. TOTE result: 22-27 no winners this week. Next weeks prize money is £150.00
Fri 20/07/07.Committee met up with potential sponsors tonight. Next full meeting will be Thurs 02/08/07.
Wed 18/07/07.Word has got about,about our Training Sessions. 26 of our squad all turned up tonight with our new manager who we a proud to announce as Rob Thomas. next training session Mon 23/07/07 5.45 at Pwll Park.
Mon 16/07/07.Regular Training Session took place again tonight. More squad members turned out tonight. More new & fresh training methods were used.
Next training session Wed 18/07/07.
Friday 13/7/07.New manager yet to be officially named took his 1st Pwll training session. Unlucky Friday saw only 8 players at a very wet session (it poured down) It turned out to be a very good fitness workout on the 2nd pitch . Session included ball & co-ordination skills & ending with a mini game & warm down. This session saw some new fresh ideas & all involved enjoyed.
